The Netflix of Home Videos!

Home movies offer an opportunity for families to come together and reminisce over cherished memories. Regrettably, numerous home movies remain inaccessible and trapped in outdated formats. Even if individuals possess the means to view reels, VHS tapes, tor all those digital video camera tapes, the process of setting up or switching between videos can be cumbersome and time-consuming. Pixel Promises Photo Organizing has the solution! It's called the Projector App and it's awesome!


Described as "Your own personal Netflix," the Projector App offers a seamless home video viewing experience. This innovative tool empowers families to upload their cherished home videos onto a designated account and effortlessly stream their precious memories directly to their television screens. It's literally like watching your own home movies on Netflix. The best part is that it's available on iPhones, Androids, PCs and Macs. You have literally have access to all your home videos no matter where you go, who you're with or what device you have access to at the moment.


We use many different video streaming methods (see list below) but the Projector App has quickly become our favorite for a few key reason:


  1. Ease of use: it's super easy to use. They did a great job designing the Projector App. It has a very clean look and feel yet still has all the bells and whistle you'd want from the app.

  2. Organization options: this might be our favorite feature. Projector App allows you to organize all your videos the way you want. Maybe you want to organize your movies by year. Maybe you'd like seeing them in folders by event. You have the ability to create folders, playlists or both. You can even search by keyword! You have the ability to organize them how you see fit which is a beautiful beautiful thing!

  3. No video length limits: Many streaming platforms limit the video length to 20 minutes. So your two hour wedding video will need to be broken up into many different smaller videos to add them to other platforms. Even though it's not as bad as it might seem, it's not ideal and Projector App makes this a seamless video experience unlike no other.

  4. Shareable: now here's where it shines. So, I, personally, have hundreds of videos on my Projector App. Most are of my own family; from all the recent years my kids were growing up. But some are of my parents family back in the 80s. And some are from my husbands family from back in the 70s! Some are from my husbands college days (insert big eyes emoji) and some are from my team at work. My work team doesn't care to see videos from my husbands college days, for example :) The Projector App has the perfect solution allowing you to create groups. You choose how many different groups you want to have. You choose who's in each group and you choose which videos are shown in each group as well. There's literally nothing more perfect!

  5. It's beauty: that might sound crazy but it's just a beautiful app to use. It's not full of distracting ads all over the page like YouTube, it doesn't house every file in your life like Dropbox and it doesn't have video limits like SmugMug (although we LOVE SmugMug for everything else).


Here's an example from my collection. We had a itsy bitsy teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini party for my daughter's 4th birthday. She's now in her 20s and was showing her friend this video just the other day; able to call it up on her phone in seconds. How cool is that!

  • We begin the process by converting outdated video formats like tapes, reels, and DVDs into digital files. We handle all conversions in house producing high quality, ready for TV video files.

  • We standardize the naming convention of each digital files, incorporating both the date and theme for easy identification (e.g., 2004-07-04 Fourth of July).

  • We establish a personalized client Projector App site for you. Leveraging our status as an Authorized Projector Affiliate, we quickly address any technical concerns our clients encounter. We are basically there for you every step of the way. We convert your videos, we create your account, we organize your account based on your preferences and we upload all your videos. You simply have to download the app, sit back and enjoy.


Other Streaming Tools


Although Projector simplifies home viewing of family videos, we utilize additional tools for managing our clients' video collections, including storage, sharing, and viewing that you might find useful as well.


Dropbox: For less personal videos, we use Dropbox. This platform facilitates sharing select videos with family, storing videos for colleagues, and housing audio conversions. Projector is reserved for personal family moments and the broader array of family videos.


SmugMug: For sharing photo collections, we rely on SmugMug. This platform not only enables the sharing of photo memories but also accommodates shortened videos alongside these collections, ensuring all memories are conveniently stored and shared in one place online. As much as we love Projector for video, we LOVE SmugMug for photos.


External Hard Drive: Furthermore, external hard drives serve as a reliable backup for digital video copies. While effective for archiving, Projector bridges the gap by offering seamless viewing and sharing capabilities for the entire video collection.


And More: There are just so many options out there. And one that's perfect for one family might not be perfect for another. But I could bet we have the solution no matter your needs.
